Snowed In

Hey PI-Fans,

With Christmas just around the corner,  you’ll have to pardon us if we seem a bit more busy than usual.

Of course, we’re going to keep doing what we do.

So have at it.

In Tiny Epic Zombies, survivors are always on the run, collecting weapons, killing Zombies and working toward completing objectives. Completing 3 objectives can win you the game but if you’re too focused on the objectives, the Zombies will overrun the mall and that will be the end of you. Killing a Zombie is actually pretty easy… but they just keep coming. Keeping them from overrunning the entire mall, while trying to accomplish your objectives, that is hard!

Legend says if the Tower of London Ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain with it. In Tower of London, players fight for control of the tower using their influence to occupy different buildings and gather ravens. Each turn players play two cards: the first card determines which building their Beefeater (guard) goes into, and the second card has a special power that triggers from the perspective of the Beefeater just placed. At the end of a round, certain areas of the tower are scored based on who controls the majority of buildings, by having the most Beefeaters in each.

Soar to dizzying heights in the electrifying cooperative adventure. Work as a team to explore a mysterious platform that floats at the center of a savage storm. Connect a circuit of cables to launch a secret rocket — all before you are struck by lightning or blown off to the depths below. It’s a high-wire act that will test your team’s capacity for courage and cooperation. One false step and you all could be grounded…permanently! Forbidden Sky, the latest installment in the Forbidden… game series takes you to new heights with several novel challenges, including collectively planning a terrain using only limited information and constructing a real working electrical circuit.

Dungeons & Dragons is a roleplaying game which needs little introduction. This special alternate art core gift set contains a special limited art version of the D&D Players Handbook, Monster Manual, Dungeon Masters Guide and DM Screen.

It’s Beginning To Feel A Lot Like… I’ll Stop.

Hey PI-Fans,

It’s us again, doing our usual thing – keeping a store full of cool stuff ready to go to good homes.

Also, in the interest of staff sanity, we’re going to try to keep the Christmas Carols to a minimum this year. Not that we’re against them or anything, but after the 73rd round of Jingle Bells, the staff begin to go a little stir crazy.

That becomes a problem.

In the meantime, the new stuff keeps flowing.

Once again, rival schools have come to Onitama to see who has the dominant Art — but something is different this time: Their activity has attracted the attention of a wind spirit! This indomitable force will interfere with the students, but it may on occasion grant an unforeseen benefit as well! The Onitama: Way of the Wind expansion includes a wind spirit, a neutral game piece that creates a new layer of interaction in the game. Two new move cards are included, as well as eight wind spirit cards.

As a Koi, you spend your days swimming to and fro with the goal of gobbling up as many dragonflies and frogs as you can every day. Your tranquil koi pond begins with some decorative stone and a few lily pads, but you will also receive natural beauty cards in your hand that allow a player to add more lily pads, cherry blossoms, ornamental stone and frogs — which both enhances the beauty of the pond and causes turmoil beneath the still waters for the other fish. At the end of seven days, the game comes to an end, with the best-fed fish being declared the winner. Be wise, be quick, or go hungry. Persevere and you shall succeed.

Kids on Bikes is a Collaborative World Building RPG set in small towns with big mysteries. In Kids on Bikes, you’ll take on the roles of everyday people grappling with strange, terrifying, and very, very powerful forces that they cannot defeat, control, or even fully understand. The only way to face them is to work together, use your strengths, and know when you just have to run as fast as you can.

For The Watch

Hey PI-Fans,

Night gathers, and now your watch begins.

Steadfast Lannister Halberdiers form unyielding hedges of polearms while nimble Stark Outriders nip at the flanks, yet all this pale in scope as a third faction storms onto the battlefields of the A Song of Ice & Fire Miniature Game.

The Night’s Watch has come.

– RECORD SCRATCH –

Or… you know… we could just talk about the Singaporean Dream, a card game about paying, stealing and saboing your way to becoming the ultimate Singaporean.

Why no?

We don’t judge.

Catchup.

Hey PI-Fans,

I might have personally taken a short a sabbatical last week, but the gears of industry keep turning, and in the short time I was away, a flood of stuff came in.

Here’s a catch-up list of what’s flooded in over the last week I was away.

Board game wise, if horror is your jam, step back into the House on the Hill with Betrayal Legacy, and shape the development of the ill-fated building with an all new a campaign themed mode. Or take to the streets of mist shrouded Arkham to face off against the servitors of the Elder Gods in an all new edition of Arkham Horror. Then there’s World War II like you’ve never seen it before with Axis & Allies & Zombies.

Feeling like stretching your legs? Consider Discover: Lands Unknown, a wilderness survival and exploration game with a unique game experience in each box, or go spelunking with Heroes of Terrinoth, FFG’s all new dungeon crawling card game. Alternatively, you can diver straight back into the wasteland with the New California expansion for the Fallout boardgame.

Looking for something a touch lighter? Try the all new edition of Condottiere or the D&D themed Dungeon Mayhem.

And that’s not even counting the restocks. Santorini, Dominion, Stone Age, Ticket to Ride, Munchkin, Scythe, Terraforming Mars,The Arkham Horror LCG and more…

Things Aren’t On Fire. Fire Is On Things.

Hey PI-Fans,

I’m going to cut to the chase: There’s a new wave of Song of Ice and Fire miniatures out so Lets get straight to the point.

All you Lannister commanders who have been wanting to set things on fire, listen up. Pyromancers are in. For the less incendiary inclined, there’s the Mountain’s Men. On the stark end, Umber reinforcements are in including the Berserkers and Greataxes. Or you can let out your inner sadist and unleash the Boltons. The Bastard’s Girls, Cutthroats and Flayed Men are ready to slot into any army seeking mercenary reinforcements from this treacherous House.

Not all miniatures of course.

On the RPG front, there’s restocks of the all new edition Vampire: The Masquerade RPG and Uprising, an all new dystopian science fiction RPG set in the world of the best selling Resistance and Coup card games.

Board gamers will be happy to note the return to our shelves of both Spirit Island and Scythe. For people looking for a portable space exploration game, try Tiny Epic Galaxies.  Or Tiny Epic Quest if your tastes run more towards the fantasy end. Alternatively, give Gizmos a mechanical spin on engine building games.

The smartest minds of our generation are gathering together at the Great Science Fair. In Gizmos, you want to build engines — engines within the game to get things done faster. Using the four types of energy marbles, plucked from the 3D marble dispenser, you purchase and construct new additions to your works. As you build, new attachments can trigger chain reactions, letting you do even more on your turn. Whoever builds the greatest machine and collects the most victory points wins!

In a cyberpunk, dystopian future, the citizens of Paris Nouveau are no more than indentured servants. Virtual reality has come at a cost they can never pay, a tradeoff of freedom for technology. But there are freedom fighters who reject the system, unplugging from the illusion and working to make things right once again. They are La Résistance. Rise up and defy the corporations in Uprising: the Dystopian Universe RPG, a stand-alone game that uses a customized version of the Fate System, set in the same universe as The Resistance, Coup, and One Night Revolution.

A world of peace has been torn asunder by the opening of a vile portal from the goblin kingdom. Now you, the heroes, must quest in order to right this wrong. In Tiny Epic Quest, players embark on a sandbox adventure. During the day, players travel far and wide, visiting villages to acquire quests, monuments to learn powerful spells, mushroom groves to seek guidance, and treacherous locations in search of artifacts! When night falls, players must face the challenge of their quests, and decisions, by rolling dice, hoping for fortune, and knowing when to quit. Will you press on? Or is it time to save your progress and rest? Tomorrow is always another day.

In Tiny Epic Galaxies each player controls a galactic empire, aiming to expand their influence by acquiring highly contested planets and increasing their cosmic armada. The game revolves around an innovative dice-rolling combo mechanic. Each die is engraved with symbols representing the various actions you can take, such as moving a spaceship, increasing your culture or energy resources, or advancing your political or economic influence over newly discovered planets.

Okay Pardner… DRAW.

Hey PI-Fans,

You know us, we know you. We know you’re here for the games. Seriously. The store is called Games @ PI. There are very few alternate business avenues we could approach with a name like that.

So. Let’s get to it.

Expand the gameplay of Santorini! The Golden Fleece expansion adds more Gods like the magical Hecate or the mysterious Hades and also Heroes like Hercules and Achilles! Also included is a Golden Fleece figure, which can give any player touching it the power of a God! While Heroes have powerful abilities, they can only be used once per game. This is a great way to balance out skill gaps or introduce new players to the world of Santorini!

Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace, the fourth game in the Epic Spell Wars series, takes the trademark humor-filled, mature gameplay and artwork to a new level for 2-6 players. Magically transmitted diseases (MTDs) are a powerful addition to the proceedings, which give players glyphs that lead to spells that are more epic than ever. They’re also (un?)fortunately adult in the tradition of Epic Spell Wars. Because, why else would you be playing Epic Spell Wars?

In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. But you already know this. This is CODENAMES XXL – a deluxe sized version of Codenames perfect for large gatherings and parties.

The hunter becomes the hunted in The Island of Doctor Lucky. In this tropical spin on Kill Doctor Lucky, you’re still competing to kill the old man, but this time you picked a dangerous place to do it: Isla Fortuna, his mysterious tropical island. You can still attempt murder the old fashioned way, using a weapon when no one can see you, or you can take advantage of the new hazard cards to hit him from anywhere else on the map! Every murder attempt makes you stronger, and if you play your cards right, you can kill Doctor Lucky!

Compounded is a game about building chemical compounds through careful management of elements, a fair bit of social play and trading, and just a bit of luck. In Compounded, players take on the roles of lab managers, hastily competing to complete the most compounds before they are completed by others – or destroyed in an explosion. Some compounds are flammable and will grow more and more volatile over time; take too long to gather the necessary elements for those compounds and a lot of hard work will soon be scattered across the lab.

A Fake Artist Goes to New York is a party game for 5-10 players. Players take turns being the Question Master, whose role is to set a category, write a word within that category on dry erase cards, and hand those out to other players as artists. At the same time, one player will have only an “X” written on his card. He is the fake artist! Players will then go around the table twice, drawing one contiguous stroke each on a paper to draw the word established by the Question Master, then guess who the fake artist is.

Is she drawing an elk or a moose? Is he drawing a pegasus or a unicorn? These are the types of questions you will probably be asking yourself during a game of Pictomania! There’s no time to draw a complex masterpiece in Pictomania, the drawing game in which everybody draws and everybody guesses — all at the same time! Players sketch the essence of the word with a few quick lines and try to guess the others’ drawings while there’s still time.

Monday Supplies

Hey PI-Fans

It’s the start of the working week. Since games are work for us, that means its also time to fill our shelves with games.

We launched A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game last week and we’ve just topped up the shelves. Also new in is another wave of preprimed WizKids RPG miniatures and more Dungeon Heist for the RPG players.

And there’s board games. New Smash Up. More Smash Up. And plenty of other cool stuff as well.

As the mega corporations are getting ready to start the terraforming process, you now have the chance to make those early choices that will come to define your corporation and set the course for the future history of Mars! Terraforming Mars: Prelude introduces Prelude cards that jumpstart the terraforming process, or boost your corporation engine. In addition it introduces a batch of new corporations and projects to further expand the Terraforming Mars experience.

As the Dragon Castle crumbles, opportunistic lords seek to lure people to their realm. In Dragon Castle, you take on the role of one of the lords. You will have to use all of your cunning to build a castle that will inspire people to move to your realm. Each turn, you can collect tiles from the ruins and add them to your construction. As you place sets of the same type of tiles together, you’ll be able to consolidate them, earning points and allowing for the addition of Shrines.

Smash Up has turned the asylum over to the inmates yet again! After the success of It’s Your Fault, we decided to let the fans choose the factions that would make up the latest set of Smash Up, and they went for some powerful choices! In Oops, You Did It Again, a huge field was whittled down to the top four, and here they are: Cowboys call out opposing minions for shootouts, Samurai face their noble end in battle to bring glory to their player, Ancient Egyptians bury secrets deep in the sands, while the Vikings… well they just take other people’s stuff!

And Lo… The Big Geeky Boxes Were Filled, and the Cry Went Out: We Need A Bigger Box! This is the next evolution in Smash Up Storage. It’s bigger. It’s geekier. It’s still a box. The Bigger Geekier Box has four large rows for storing all of your Smash Up cards, lots of foam bricks for stable storage, a closable token holder, and the all-new Smash Up Comprehensive Rulebook. It also contains the Geeks faction, and the All-Stars faction!
