Back In The Saddle

Hey PI-Fans,

I’ve just dragged my body back from the armed forces and it’s time to get back to work. Work, in my case means games. More specifically bringing you games.

That’s my job.

What I’m rambling about in this disorganised screed basically translates into new board and card games for the shelf, ready fr people to pop by and add them to their collections.

If you enjoyed the Chronicles of Crime, perhaps it’s worth keeping an eye out for the expansions. The Noir and Welcome to Redview expansions bring all new scenarios to the Chronicles of Crime, along with the Virtual Reality Module, which converts your phone into a set of VR goggles.

If you’re looking for something lighter perhaps consider Kodama Duo, a specially designed two player set of the Kodama card game which also doubles as a 6th player expansion for the core game or just take a look at Throw Throw Burrito, primarily due to the dearth of party games which allow you to brain your friend with a hurled rubber burrito.

So hey. If you’re looking for something to pass the week, hows’about a new adventure, preferable with friends.

Hey PI-Fans,

Some of you like adult humour. Judging by the collective popularity of Cards Against Humanity, Bed Wed Dead and Limpeh Says, we don’t judge.

If anything, we sort of enable it.

So this week is a mix. We’ve got a couple of new card games this week. Cahoots and This Game Goes to Eleven are excellent party games – but definitely not as spicy as the other two.

On top of that, we’ve restocked Unstable Unicorns, Llama’s Unleashed, Scram and Daring Contest, so if you’re looking for more kooky fun, well… we’ve got you covered too.

Here’s to being an adult.

Million Dollars, But… The Game (MDB) puts your morals and imagination to the test, posing the question, “What would you do for a million dollars?” Players create scenarios by combining a trigger and a rather uncomfortable rule card to showcase what they would or wouldn’t do for a big hunk of cash.

You know the drill. In Codenames: Deep Undercover, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin. Of course… Deep Undercover means things are a bit… saucier… in their choice of vocabulary.

Cooperation is key in Cahoots! Play cards to one of four piles by matching color or number. Work together as a team to complete a series of goals — without communicating what’s in your hand. Can you make all piles purple or green? Every card lower than four? All cards add up to ten? There’s only one way to win before time runs out: Play in cahoots!

In This Game Goes to Eleven, named after a joke in the film Spinal Tap, players play number cards from their hands into the center pile, seeking to make the pile sum to 11. If they are able to get to exactly 11, they can pass the stack off to another player. If, however, they are forced to play a card that brings the total over 11, they have to take the entire pile themselves. Players race to be the first one to be left without any cards.

And if this is all new to you, consider picking up a copy of the BattleTech Beginner Box or BattleTech A Game of Armored Combat box to get you ready to fling lasers and missiles when the Clans invade and check out the AMA currently on HERE.

Keep an eye out. We’ll make a full announcement…

A Loaded Week

Shadows darken and deepen. They’re cast by the enormous, world-striding megacorporations that grasp for power and strangle humanity in their clutches. But in the darkest depths, defiance flickers. The ignored and the marginalized refuse to be ground down. They’re called shadowrunners, and they risk everything…

The Shadowrun Sixth World Beginner Box serves as an intro for the Shadowrun Sixth Edition Roleplaying Game and contains an Introduction to the Sixth World, new Quick-Start Rules, Starting Character Dossiers, a Introductory Adventure, A Poster, a deck of Gear Cards, and six customized dice bearing the Shadowrun logos.

Just One is a cooperative party game in which you play together to discover as many mystery words as possible. Find the best clue to help your teammate. Be unique, as all identical clues will be cancelled! A complete game is played over 13 cards. The goal is to get a score as close to 13 as possible. In case of a right answer, the players score 1 point. In case of wrong answer, they lose the current card as well as the top card of the deck. Thus losing 2 points. In case of lack of answer, the players only lose the current card, and therefore only 1 point. You have the choice – make the difference!

Before the Black Throne is the sixth and final Mythos Pack in The Circle Undone cycle for Arkham Horror: The Card Game. After your battle to close the rips in reality in In the Clutches of Chaos, you have left your city and your world behind, traveling an impossible distance, and yet you are still many leagues from the nighted throne where your ultimate foe stirs. As you are chased by your fate across the cosmos, you may be forced to bring “empty space” into play, losing the top card of your deck as you place it facedown to embody the seemingly infinite space that divides you from the rest of humanity.

Hey PI-Fans,

A number of people asked, so we figured we’d keep the format light this week before going back into the rotation.

We’ll be back to scenario rotation again next week, but for the time being, here’s to some casual Pew Pew! See you Wednesday 7/8/19

Fee: $8
Format: Star Wars X-Wing Extended 200 Point
60 min Rounds.
Participation: Extended Art Scimitar Squadron Pilot
Top Scorer: Star Wars X-Wing Dice Bag

At the end of the night, the player with the highest Score among players who plays 2 games across the night will take home a Star Wars X-Wing Dice Bag.

One of Those Weeks

Hey PI-Fans,

We’re into August now. I would make an joke about our August selection of games, but I won’t, mostly because my staff would kill me.

Instead let’s focus on the cool stuff.

Be your focus on board games, RPGs or miniatures, there’s plenty floating around out there and with a long weekend rolling around, it looks like a good time to get in some gaming. (Not that there was ever a bad time to get in some gaming.

We’ve restocked the ‘Tiny Epic’ range of titles, got in more Who Should We Eat, loaded up on Jaipur, Dominion and Pandemic. Then there’s more Catan, Splendor and Azul. That covers the classics, but we aren’t done by a long shot.

Here’s the new stuff.

You are the mayor of a Tiny Town in the forest in which the smaller creatures of the woods have created a civilization hidden away from predators. This new land is small and the resources are scarce, so you take what you can get and never say no to building materials. Cleverly plan and construct a thriving town, and don’t let it fill up with wasted resources! Whoever builds the most prosperous tiny town wins!

Chronicles of Crime is a cooperative game of crime investigation, mixing an app, a board game and a touch of Virtual Reality. With the same physical components (board, locations, characters and items), players will be able to play plenty of different scenarios and solve as many different crime stories. Players start the app, choose the scenario they want to play, and follow the story. The goal being to catch the killer of the current case in the shortest short time possible.

Toeshambo is a fast and strategic mash-up card game where you’re playing Tic-Tac-Toe with cards, but the Xs and Os have been replaced with Rock, Paper, & Scissor! If your opponent is blocking your three in a row of Rocks, Papers or Scissors, you can play over their card if your card beats it, Rock-Paper-Scissor style.

The ocean world of Charybdion seethes with discontent and a growing sense of danger.

The first published adventure module for the Warhammer 40,000 Wrath & Glory RPG, Dark Tides is an anthology of five linked adventures that bringyour heroes face-to-face with the dangerous villains responsible for Charybdion’s troubles. Can your heroes confront the vile forces spreading insanity and corruption?

Somewhere out there beyond the cordons, beyond the fields and marshes, abandoned machines roamed like stray dogs. They wandered about impatiently, restless in the new wind sweeping through the country. They smelled something in the air, something unfamiliar.

Simon Stålenhag’s paintings of Swedish retro futuristic suburbia, populated by fantastic machines and strange creatures, have won global acclaim. The award-winning Tales from the Loop Roleplaying Game was released in 2017 and let you experience this amazing world first hand. Now you can return to the Loop in this standalone sequel game that continues the story into the 1990s. But remember – this time you can die.

The Expanse Roleplaying Game brings James S.A. Corey’s award-winning series of science fiction novels to the tabletop. Using the Adventure Game Engine (AGE) rules that power Green Ronin’s Fantasy AGE, Blue Rose, and Modern AGE RPGs, The Expanse takes players to a far-future solar system where humanity is divided: Martians, Belters, and the people of old Earth struggle for political power and resources, but older, alien, forces are stirring in the universe, and human history is about to take an unexpected new turn.
