Oddly Hungry

Hey PI-Fans,

It’s been one of those days. The manager has been wandering around the store wearing a Tricorn. We’re concerned about his stability.

Send help…

Meanwhile. Ignoring him for a moment. We’re hard at work keeping the shelves loaded with new games.

Use the freshest, tastiest ingredients to make the biggest, most mouthwatering, gourmet burgers around. Satisfy your customers to earn money, upgrade your restaurant, and become the best burger restaurant in town. Players take turns to purchase ingredients from the market, assemble burgers, the Burger Up! phase where players may score their burgers if they satisfy an order.  A bonus is awarded to the Chef who served the most burgers in the endgame and then the winner is determined, based on who has earned the most.

Fluxx turns 21, and Looney Labs is  celebrating by publishing Drinking Fluxx! With rules that are always changing, Drinking Fluxx will keep you on your toes and shake up any adult party. Featuring spill proof plastic cards, drink penalties and a wacky and weird variety of  special rules like word cards, Drinking Fluxx  combines the classic gameplay of Fluxx with social drinking.

Face your opponent in a pattern-matching duel that will push your reflexes to the limit. Break out your claws and cunning and see who’s left standing after this furry face off. Kitten Klash is a 2-player game of pattern matching and reflexes. Players continuously lay out cards in two rows of three opposing stacks, keeping an eye peeled for horizontal or vertical color matches. When you spot one, you reach out fast-fast-fast to grab both stacks, then go back to laying out cards until you spot the next match in a frantic attempt to run their opponent out of cards.

A New Batch Of Boxes

Hey PI-Fans,

I’ve sat here attempting to type something witty for some time now. I’ve failed. Send help. Or Coffee.

Or help and coffee.

Both. Yes. Both is good.

In lieu of the manager’s creative bankruptcy… here are some new games.

The prosperous Kingdom of Greengully, ruled for centuries by the Forever King, has issued a decree to its citizens to colonize the vast lands beyond its borders. In Charterstone, a competitive legacy game, you construct buildings and populate a shared village. Building stickers are permanently added to the game board and become action spaces for any player to use. Thus, you start off with simple choices and few workers, but soon you have a bustling village with dozens of possible actions.

In Cat Lady, players are cat ladies, part of an elite group of people including Marie Antoinette and Ernest Hemingway. During the game, you and your fellow cat ladies will draft cards three at a time, collecting toys, food, catnip, costumes, and of course lovable cats. But watch out! Make sure you have enough food for all of your feline friends or your hungry cats will subtract points from your score. The player with the highest total victory points wins the game!

The party game That’s a Question!, takes the familiar format of challenging others with questions, then voting on what they’ll say. Players take turns asking questions. You build a question from the cards in your hand and choose a player to answer. Everyone else tries to guess what the answer will be. They get points for guessing right, and you get points when they guess wrong, so you want to ask tough questions. You will get to think about interesting stuff, and you’ll also learn new things about your friends — deep, important things like how much they love pizza. And you get to keep score by moving little wooden squirrels up a mountain. Why squirrels? No clue.

Today’s going to be a nice quiet day…

Hey PI-Fans,

It never fails. I sit down with a cup of coffee to do the paperwork and BAM!

I guess I shouldn’t complain. Of course, in most RPGs, speaking is a free action, so by extension, complaining is as well.

And speaking of RPGs, well… D&D restocks are in. So, time to load up on those Player’s Handbooks, Monster Manuals and Dungeon Master’s Guides, especially with the Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer’s League in full swing, Monday nights. Those with more esoteric tastes will appreciate Xanathar’s Guide is back in stock as well, along with the Starter Box for those looking to jump in. And for the discerning DM planning to branch out, consider a look at Critical Role’s Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting, the Tome of Beasts, a bestiary chock full of brand new beasties and Prepared: Tombs & Dooms, a book of micro-dungeons for when your players inevitably wander off the beaten track.

It’s not all RPGs of course.

The board game shelves have just seen a critical restock as well. For those who’ve been waiting, Catan‘s back and it’s brought friends. Pandemic of all stripes too (Core, Iberia, Rising Tide, Legacy Season 1 and Legacy Season 2). On the horror front there’s Betrayal at House on the Hill and Betrayal at Baldur’s Gate to keep people busy. But, if I just sit here listing what’s come in, I’m liable to fall asleep from exhaustion mid sente

Delve even deeper into the imagination with the newest expansion for the smash hit Dixit with Dixit: Harmonies! This latest expansion incorporates the unique and powerful art of Paul Echegoyen to push players’ imaginations even further, challenging them like only the game of Dixit can do. Fully compatible with the base Dixit game and every other expansion, these 84 new image cards expand upon the replayability and joy that the game of Dixit is known for.

Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 6 – France & Old West includes a double-sided game board that features France on one side and the western half of the United States on the other.  Face the struggle of establishing a rail network in the French set, where even the rail networks are variable, or expand the game to six players with the Old West map, which is designed for and includes all the components to add a sixth player to the game!

Numbers aren’t worth anything in NMBR 9 unless they’re off the ground floor and looking down from above. In this abstract strategy game, players stack tiles shaped like numbers, building ever upwards in the hope of a high score. Canny players can stack tiles sky high for a score, but with tiles not being allowed to overhang, this is easier said than done.

The night has fallen and your mind is floating in the magical world of dreams.  At the beginning of each round of When I Dream one player takes the role of the Dreamer. The other players are secretly dealt their role cards determining what kind of spirits they are “good” or “naughty” or if they are just “tricksters” changing sides as the game goes by.  Players “Dream” cards depicting a specific element of the dream, trying to describe them to the dreamer using one word each, alternating between trying to help the dreamer identify them or utterly bamboozling them… or both.

Looking for more challenge for the Arkham Horror LCG? The Carnavale of Horrors and Curse of the Rougarou scenario packs might be right up your alley. Designed as standalone adventure for Arkham Horror: The Card Game, these 62 card scenario packs come with rules for adding it to your campaign as a “side-story,” complete with an asset you might earn.

Hey. Let Me Tell You A Story…

Hey PI-Fans,

We’re going to keep doing our thing. Apparently, our thing, is to keep the flow of goodies going. So on top of the new stuff is a stack of new RPG paraphernalia as well.

This doesn’t just mean Dungeons & Dragons, mind you. Titles like Green Ronin’s A Song of Ice & Fire  and Dragon Age are back on our shelves, and if you’re looking to spice up your gaming experience or trying something new, consider taking a crack at critically acclaimed titles like the Ryuutama: Natural Fantasy RPGMy Little Pony: Tails of Equestria and the ever popular Call of Catthulhu (not a typo).

Back to board games, we’ve got a new pile of Machi Koro: Bright Lights Big City, Citadels, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, The Resistance all ready to be cracked out over the upcoming CNY.

Of course, if your tastebuds are jaded, you were waiting for the new shiney, so here it comes.

The greatest origami masters face off for the title, using their magic to make Origami creations come to life! Balance the need to keep cards around for their abilities, versus trashing them from your hand to fund  your ever growing collection of cards in your score pile in this elegant little 2 to 4 player card game. Will you fold early for an early points advantage? Keep cards around for resource gains? Or just flood the table with cheap, fast origami creations?  Get your own Origami set and find out today.

In a handful of rounds, you have to build up your realm and make it grow by spending your riches.  In Minute Realms, you draft cards to further the growth of your realm, all the while keeping a wary eye on the growing horde of barbarians at the gate, who will sack your kingdom should you ever grow too militarily lax. Will you yield splendor to your lands with refined buildings, or will you defend them with imposing bastions to repel the upcoming fall of the invaders?

The Unknown lurks in the dark. We all know it. Luckily, some of us use that knowledge to fight. The odds may be against us, but we can win. Chill 3rd Edition is an investigative horror roleplaying game about people who stand up against monsters, hunting down supernatural threats and protecting the world from the Unknown. Players take on the role of envoys, members of a secret organization known as S.A.V.E. that tracks down and eliminates evil in the world. Along the way they might be injured or scared out of their wits. They might die. And just maybe… they might just save the world.

The ware between the mutable, shape-changing Darloks and the adaptable, resolute Humans shows no sign of abating. Master of Orion: Conquest is a two-player dueling deckbuilder as your species builds and fights their way to victory. Explore the galaxy to find new planets to colonize and use their production to build your fleets. Destroy the enemy’s home world and become the Master of Orion!

I’m going to reuse this header because nobody will notice… Wait…

Hey PI-Fans,

We’re keeping the good stuff flowing, folks. This means the new stuff keeps rolling, regardless of whether your preferences are board games, card games, wargames or RPGs.

So why not swing by and check out the cool stuff?

You’ve spent all day dealing with meddlesome adventurers slaying your monsters and taking your stuff. Now it’s high time you kicked back for an evening at the Black Dragon Depths, the Undercity’s counterpart to The Red Dragon Inn. Drink, gamble and roughhouse with your frenemies. Just remember to keep an eye on your gold, because your tablemates will be trying to take it from you, and if you run out, you’ll be spending the night wandering the dungeon in The Red Dragon Inn: Villains, a standalone spin-off of The Red Dragon Inn.

From the pages of the… wait. Wasn’t this a card game…? In the Sentinel Comics Roleplaying Game, you and your friends play as comic-book heroes – either from the pages of Sentinel Comics or from your own imagination! The Sentinel Comics Roleplaying Game Starter Kit comes with everything you need to play your first entire super-heroic campaign! This starter kit comes with a ton of information and gameplay content including a GM Guide, six pregenerated characters so players can jump straight in and a premade campaign.

Custom Heroes is a card-crafting, climbing trick game in which plastic cards are added to sleeves in order to modify the cards already in those sleeves. The players attempt to win rounds by getting rid of their cards as quickly as possible by playing escalating card sets. However, you also have advancements you can sleeve onto your cards. These may increase or decrease the value of the cards, or even add new abilities, but since all of the cards are reshuffled and dealt to start a new round, the changes you made may end up with someone else (and vice versa).

In Barbarossa and El Alamein, two-to five players command German divisions pushing forward on Moscow and Alexandria respectively. Faced with stiff resistance from Soviet and British armies, players will need to build armies, create strategies and gain support to be able to deploy their troops and attack different key sites on the battlefield. Each victory will gain them victory points which can help them win, not only the war but the game. In the end, the player with the most victory points will be declared the winner.

New Year, New Stuff?

Hey PI-Fans,

It’s 2018. Happy New Year!
The staff are still recovering from the 2017 Holiday Rush, but as they say, ‘The Spice Must Flow’.

And this means new stuff is inbound.

The Legendary Marvel Deck Building Game leaps headfirst into  the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Legendary: Spider-Man Homecoming expansion. With Peter Parker and Tony Stark headlining the pack, this Legendary expansion features and all new set of heroes and villains and new mechanics with the Coordinate and Danger Sense keywords as you work to survive the onslaught of the Vulture and his crew.

Things have gone surprisingly badly and… well… The Captain Is Dead. All the crew have to do is get the ship’s Jump Core back online to win, but with a hostile alien ship trying to destroy you, that is easier said than done. Work together to keep the ship running under an enemy assault and maximize the abilities of each crew member and remember… if someone tries to be a hero, you’ll all die.

Welcome to the Paranoia RPG. The year is still 214. It has been for some time. You have six clones and a laser pistol. The Computer is your friend. TRUST THE COMPUTER! THE COMPUTER IS YOUR FRIEND! As a Troubleshooter, you are a member of Alpha Complex’s most expendable elite force. Tasked with finding trouble and shooting it, you will be hunting mutants, terrorists, traitors, [CLASSIFIED], secret societies, renegade bots, and DAIVs, which are [REDACTED]. You’ll save Alpha Complex from its greatest threat, unless you accidentally become Alpha Complex’s greatest threat.

The evil Lord Eradikus has all but conquered the galaxy. He may rule with an iron grip, but you and your fellow thieves have challenged each other to sneak aboard his ship, hack your way into its command module, and steal from him. Clank! In! Space! has players building a personal deck of cards throughout the course of the game, with the cards allowing them to move through the spaceship, attack things, acquire new cards, and — oh yeah — make noise to attract Lord Eradikus and potentially seal their own doom.

“Keep Him Off The Cart Because He’s Not Yet Dead”

Hey PI-Fans,

It’s been a while hasn’t it. If you’re wondering why the manager is on the verge of bursting into song (Monty Python’s Spamalot, btw), it’s probably because the holiday rush hasn’t successfully run him over. Yet.

But hey. 2017 isn’t over yet and you know it’s going to try.

In the meantime, you’ll be happy to know we’re still plugging along and doing our thing, and that means we’ve got weird, wacky and wonderful stuff just in time to round out the year end.

Gather your band of heroes and journey to the edge of the Terrinoth in Legacy of Dragonholt! The first game to use the Oracle system, Legacy of Dragonholt captures the spirit of a roleplaying game without needing a game master. This narrative game for one to six players allows players to build their own unique hero and embark on six noble quests. Battle goblins, foil the plot of an evil lord, and add a new story to your tale!

You’ve fought at Mt. Skullzfyre and Castle Tentakill… but the Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards show no sign of abating! Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Melee at Murdershroom Marsh is an all new standalone set, introducing a host of new effects including Cantrips and Dual Glyphs to aid in your dominance… but do take care to avoid Bad Trips… or risk freaking out on all those colours…

Well… the Sheriff and his Deputies might be coming for you, but with this sweet new gun, they won’t know what hit them. BANG! Armed & Dangerous provides players with a whole stack of deadly weapons, powerful gear, and lethal ammo to turn the tide. Just remember that nothing is without cost. Dangerous weapons require upkeep to stay running, and if you’re not careful, you might find yourself running dry at an inopportune moment.

Dragonfire is a cooperative deck-building game set within the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Players choose from a number of races — from dwarf to elf, half-orc to human — while assuming the quintessential roles of cleric, rogue, fighter, and wizard. Equipped with weapons, spells, and magic items, players begin their adventure along the famed Sword Coast. Along the way, players level up their characters, opening access to additional equipment, feats, and more. Join the quest, and build your own legend!

AIEEEEEE.

Hey PI-Fans,

Yeah. With the Holiday Season upon us, it’s been a while since we’ve posted something. It’s unfortunately true. We’re somewhat swamped. On the other hand, we’re still keeping the store full of awesome for you.

And we’re kicking off the week with a bunch of new releases.

“Let go of the illusion that your Art is superior, that your studies are complete! Take up the Sensei’s Path, and your path towards the true Art is just beginning.” – the Scroll of Onitama

Sensei’s Path is a card expansion for use with Onitama and contains cards that can be used as a standalone set of Move cards instead of those found in the base game or shuffled with the original 16 cards during Game Setup to create a multitude of new card combinations!

It’s a fine dining frenzy! In Menu Masters, you are a world-class chef, brimming with ideas for the greatest menus ever crafted! You may choose to open a store to earn some money…or just grab your shopping basket and be the first in line at the market. It’s the only way to get the best selection! But beware of the other chefs as they drive up demand and increase prices! Earn your stars in this deliciously fun race to gourmet supremacy, proving you are the greatest of menu masters!

The enchanted forest of the kodama is flourishing. But with so much growth, the ancient paths to the sanctuaries within have become overgrown and lost. Now the forest guardians call upon you, their loyal kodama, to restore these paths. In Kokoro, Avenue of the Kodama, each player has a forest map to draw their paths. Connecting your sanctuaries to offerings will gain you favor. Choose wisely because you never know exactly when the sanctuary will score. And you shouldn’t be too greedy, if a sanctuary is not connected to more offerings than your previous sanctuary, you lose points!

The modern BattleMech is the end result of more than three thousand years of battlefield technology development. Using the most up-to-date rules text, the BattleMech Manual has been designed from the ground up to cater to the BattleTech player wanting to engage in an all-’Mech battle. Includes a variety of optional rules, terrain and more. Welcome to the most table-usage-friendly BattleTech rulebook ever published!

Technical Readout: Succession Wars is the perfect “first Technical Readout” companion to the BattleMech Manual. Combining the ’Mechs previously found in Technical Readout: 3039, Technical Readout: 3050 Upgrade, Technical Readout: 3058 Upgrade, and Technical Readout: 3075, this volume features some of the most common ’Mechs from the Age of War to the Succession Wars. Each machine is illustrated in detail, and accompanied by a description of its history, capabilities, game stats, along with their most famous pilots.

Release Day 23/11/17

Hey PI-Fans,

Here’s to new stuff. 23/11/17 is release day for Civilization: A New Dawn, A Game of Thrones Catan, Legends of the 5 Rings: Into the Forbidden City Dynasty Pack and Arkham Horror: The Unspeakable Oath Mythos Pack.

Rule the world and build an empire to withstand the test of time in Civilization: A New Dawn! This new tabletop game based on the groundbreaking video game series lets players become some of history’s greatest leaders as they try to advance their people through the ages, from ancient history to the modern era. As leaders of competing nations, players must expand their domains, gain new technologies, and build wonders to rise above all others and shape the world to their own vision.

The Unspeakable Oath is the second Mythos Pack in The Path to Carcosa cycle for Arkham Horror: The Card Game, and it carries you deep into the belly of Arkham’s asylum. You’ll find yourself behind locked doors, wracked buy Doubt, and surrounded by Lunatics. And, still, you’ll catch hints of deeper and darker secrets.

Into the Forbidden City! The third dynasty pack for Legends of the Five Rings continues to flesh out the Seven Great Clans with all new option as the struggle for power takes to the Imperial City of Otosan Uchi. From neutral samurai sworn to the Imperial family, to Imperial magistrates from each of the Great Clans, to rewards for holding the Imperial Favor, this cycle draws you into the world of Otosan Uchi and the service of the Emperor.

In A Game of Thrones Catan, the Brothers of the Night’s Watch seek a new leader from among their ranks. Drawing sustenance from the unforgiving landscape of the north offers enough challenges, but whomever takes up this task must also man and defend the Wall against the onslaught of Wildlings fighting their way into Westeros. Many brothers now compete to build, defend, and do what they can to protect Westeros, but only one shall rise above their brothers to become the new Lord Commander. But be wary — the north holds many dangers, and winter is coming.
