Okay Pardner… DRAW.

Hey PI-Fans,

You know us, we know you. We know you’re here for the games. Seriously. The store is called Games @ PI. There are very few alternate business avenues we could approach with a name like that.

So. Let’s get to it.

Expand the gameplay of Santorini! The Golden Fleece expansion adds more Gods like the magical Hecate or the mysterious Hades and also Heroes like Hercules and Achilles! Also included is a Golden Fleece figure, which can give any player touching it the power of a God! While Heroes have powerful abilities, they can only be used once per game. This is a great way to balance out skill gaps or introduce new players to the world of Santorini!

Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Panic at the Pleasure Palace, the fourth game in the Epic Spell Wars series, takes the trademark humor-filled, mature gameplay and artwork to a new level for 2-6 players. Magically transmitted diseases (MTDs) are a powerful addition to the proceedings, which give players glyphs that lead to spells that are more epic than ever. They’re also (un?)fortunately adult in the tradition of Epic Spell Wars. Because, why else would you be playing Epic Spell Wars?

In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. But you already know this. This is CODENAMES XXL – a deluxe sized version of Codenames perfect for large gatherings and parties.

The hunter becomes the hunted in The Island of Doctor Lucky. In this tropical spin on Kill Doctor Lucky, you’re still competing to kill the old man, but this time you picked a dangerous place to do it: Isla Fortuna, his mysterious tropical island. You can still attempt murder the old fashioned way, using a weapon when no one can see you, or you can take advantage of the new hazard cards to hit him from anywhere else on the map! Every murder attempt makes you stronger, and if you play your cards right, you can kill Doctor Lucky!

Compounded is a game about building chemical compounds through careful management of elements, a fair bit of social play and trading, and just a bit of luck. In Compounded, players take on the roles of lab managers, hastily competing to complete the most compounds before they are completed by others – or destroyed in an explosion. Some compounds are flammable and will grow more and more volatile over time; take too long to gather the necessary elements for those compounds and a lot of hard work will soon be scattered across the lab.

A Fake Artist Goes to New York is a party game for 5-10 players. Players take turns being the Question Master, whose role is to set a category, write a word within that category on dry erase cards, and hand those out to other players as artists. At the same time, one player will have only an “X” written on his card. He is the fake artist! Players will then go around the table twice, drawing one contiguous stroke each on a paper to draw the word established by the Question Master, then guess who the fake artist is.

Is she drawing an elk or a moose? Is he drawing a pegasus or a unicorn? These are the types of questions you will probably be asking yourself during a game of Pictomania! There’s no time to draw a complex masterpiece in Pictomania, the drawing game in which everybody draws and everybody guesses — all at the same time! Players sketch the essence of the word with a few quick lines and try to guess the others’ drawings while there’s still time.

Monday Supplies

Hey PI-Fans

It’s the start of the working week. Since games are work for us, that means its also time to fill our shelves with games.

We launched A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game last week and we’ve just topped up the shelves. Also new in is another wave of preprimed WizKids RPG miniatures and more Dungeon Heist for the RPG players.

And there’s board games. New Smash Up. More Smash Up. And plenty of other cool stuff as well.

As the mega corporations are getting ready to start the terraforming process, you now have the chance to make those early choices that will come to define your corporation and set the course for the future history of Mars! Terraforming Mars: Prelude introduces Prelude cards that jumpstart the terraforming process, or boost your corporation engine. In addition it introduces a batch of new corporations and projects to further expand the Terraforming Mars experience.

As the Dragon Castle crumbles, opportunistic lords seek to lure people to their realm. In Dragon Castle, you take on the role of one of the lords. You will have to use all of your cunning to build a castle that will inspire people to move to your realm. Each turn, you can collect tiles from the ruins and add them to your construction. As you place sets of the same type of tiles together, you’ll be able to consolidate them, earning points and allowing for the addition of Shrines.

Smash Up has turned the asylum over to the inmates yet again! After the success of It’s Your Fault, we decided to let the fans choose the factions that would make up the latest set of Smash Up, and they went for some powerful choices! In Oops, You Did It Again, a huge field was whittled down to the top four, and here they are: Cowboys call out opposing minions for shootouts, Samurai face their noble end in battle to bring glory to their player, Ancient Egyptians bury secrets deep in the sands, while the Vikings… well they just take other people’s stuff!

And Lo… The Big Geeky Boxes Were Filled, and the Cry Went Out: We Need A Bigger Box! This is the next evolution in Smash Up Storage. It’s bigger. It’s geekier. It’s still a box. The Bigger Geekier Box has four large rows for storing all of your Smash Up cards, lots of foam bricks for stable storage, a closable token holder, and the all-new Smash Up Comprehensive Rulebook. It also contains the Geeks faction, and the All-Stars faction!

Supernatural

Hey PI-Fans,

Some of you may remember the seminal goth-punk RPG Vampire: The Masquerade. If you’ve missed preening like a Toreador or skulking like a Nosferatu or just letting out your inner Brujah and being angry at life, the universe and everything…

Well… it’s back from torpor.

And if you didn’t understand a word of that, don’t worry. We’ve got board games too.

As the great powers of Europe stretch their colonial empires further and further, they will inevitably lay claim to a place where spirits still hold power – and when they do, the land itself will fight back alongside the islanders who live there. Spirit Island is a cooperative game about defending your island home from colonizing Invaders. Players are different spirits of the land, each with its own unique elemental powers. The islanders fight back against the Invaders when attacked, and lend the spirits some other aid, but may not always do so exactly as you’d hoped.

Stuffed Fables is an unusual adventure game in which players take on the roles of brave stuffies seeking to save the child they love from a scheming, evil mastermind. Make daring melee attacks, leap across conveyor belts, or even steer a racing wagon down a peril-filled hill. The game delivers a thrilling narrative driven by player choices. Players explore a world of wonder and danger, unlocking curious discoveries. The chapters of Stuffed Fables explore the many milestones of a child’s life, creating a memorable tale ideal for families, as well as groups of adults who haven’t forgotten their childlike sense of wonder.

Vampire: The Masquerade is the original and ultimate roleplaying game of personal and political horror. You are a vampire, struggling for survival, supremacy, and your own fading humanity—afraid of what you are capable of, and fearful of the inhuman conspiracies that surround you. As a vampire you suffer the pangs of the Hunger, the relentless and terrible thirst for human blood. If you refuse to deal with it, it will overcome your mind and drive you to terrible acts to slake it. You walk this razor’s edge every night. Dark designs, bitter enemies, and strange allies await you in this World of Darkness.

From A Galaxy Far Away To You

Hey PI-Fans,

A long long time ago in a galaxy far away… there was a game store manager who somehow or other started thinking about Star Wars title crawl and unfortunately started rambling.

Why?

Because the X-Wing Miniatures Game and the Star Wars: Rebellion and Imperial Assault board games are now in stock.

Because an all new edition of the award winning X-Wing Miniatures Game has reached our shores. Whether you’re a faceless Imperial Veteran, striking out for freedom with the Rebel Alliance or a hardscrabble scum privateer looking out for the next credit, it’s time to plunge back into the swirling dogfights of the Star Wars films.

Looking to take the fight to the Empire on a more personal level? Whether you’re running it against a dedicated Imperial opponent, or pitting your rebel cell in a fully cooperative game against the free Legends of the Alliance companion app, the Imperial Assault board game and wave a guerrilla campaign against the Galactic Empire across the edges of space.

The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers. Test this maxim in Star Wars: Rebellion, an asymetric strategic wargame set in the Star Wars universe. Choke entire systems as the Galactic Empire or sting and run as the Rebel Alliance. Decide the fate of a galaxy far far away, as you decide whether the Alliance to Restore the Republic will triumph or if the Emperor will rule unchallenged!

Tiny Trash Panda

Hey PI-Fans,

Monday sometimes sneaks up on you like a bewildered raccoon stuck riding a garbage truck.

I don’t actually know how that analogy works, but it was amusing enough for my brain to want to make it stick.

Restocks are in along with some new releases. You know how it works. Come down to the store and give Trash Panda a spin with the staff.  And if you’re feeling more cerebral, why not give Spy Club a whirl.

In Spy Club, players work together as young detectives to solve neighborhood mysteries. It includes a replayable campaign format, with variable unlocking content, for playing a series of 5 games connected together to tell a larger story. Throughout the campaign, you’ll unlock new modules with additional rules and story elements. With 40 new modules and 174 cards in the campaign deck, you can reset everything and play multiple campaigns — with a different story and gameplay experience emerging each time.

In Trash Pandas, players are raucous raccoons, tipping over trash cans for food (and shiny objects). Players push their luck to acquire more cards, but must stash them in order for them to count as points at the end of the game. When the deck runs out, the game ends and players compare their stashes to see who has the majority for each card type and score points accordingly. The player with the most points wins!

Meanwhile… Something else looks to be making its way over this week. We’ll let you know as soon as we get it.

Many Things Are Going To Die

Hey PI-Fans,

I’m not sure what the theme is for this week. I don’t think there is even a theme. Then again, with this week’s new shiny being ‘The Captain Is Dead: Lockdown‘, ‘Doomseeker‘, ‘Delta Green‘ and ‘Boss Monster: Rise of the Minibosses‘, perhaps the closest thing to a common thread is that things are probably going to die.

Usually in entertaining ways.

No big.

Didn’t want to live forever anyway.

So on to the games. The Captain is Dead: Lockdown is a new standalone episode in the ongoing saga that started with The Captain Is Dead. Despite their brave escape, the crew is once again in grave danger. The hasty repairs on the ship’s jump core made it cut out a few star systems away. Now they find themselves captured by the Alien Empire. The team must escape by stealing a ship, and must once again work as a team to avoid the guards, hack into systems and get away before their jailors take them back to their cells or kill them on the spot.

Looks like there’s a new threat rising in the land of Arcadia: Minibosses! Boss Monster: Rise of the Minibosses is an all new standalone set that can integrate with the previous two Boss Monster Base sets and all previous expansions. As before, players will build up their dungeon  in order to lure in heroes and defeat them before they reach your boss. New mechanisms such as the all new miniboss room cards will power up your dungeon in insidious new ways, and wreak havoc on your opponents’ dungeons.

The Doomseeker card game pits players against one another to see who can die the most glorious death! Players take on the role of a mighty dwarf slayer and wander the old world seeking their doom battling monsters and enemies of their race. Press your luck and challenge the denizens and monsters of the Old World, with each victory bringing you more glory, and ultimately your death can be met at the hands of a truly worthy foe!

Extremely Ex-Scything

Hi PI-Fans,

Okay. The pun was terrible. Doesn’t change the fact that we have Scythe back in stock. Of course, it doesn’t stop there, or I wouldn’t have made the pun in the first place.

Already own Scythe? Time for Rise of Fenris, an all new Scythe expansion built around campaign play for a Scythe style legacy world. Want something lighter? Try My Little Scythe. Yes. My Little Scythe.

Anyway. If you were excited about the new Limited run Marvel Cinematic Universe Core Set for Marvel Legendary that arrived last week, maybe smash things up with Marvel Legendary: World War Hulk.

And D&D: Dragon Heist, and a hefty slab of new Reaper BonesPathfinder Deep Cuts and Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures RPG figurines because we haven’t forgotten the role playing crowd either.

All good? Then maybe you’ll be able to forgive the pun.

In Legendary: World War Hulk, the smartest Heroes in the Marvel universe, the Illuminati, fear Hulk’s raw strength and furious rampages. They conspire to trick Hulk into exile on a distant world.  Players will be able to take on roles as Gladiator Hulk and the Warbound, or as other Heroes trying to hold Hulk and the Warbound back in this expansion, loaded with the Hulk’s new Transform mechanic.

Empires have risen and fallen in the aftermath of the Great War, and Europa stands on the precipice of a new era.  Scythe: The Rise of Fenris, the conclusion to the Scythe expansion trilogy, enables two different options – Campaign play built to revolve around an eight-episode persistent campaign and modules whichcan be used in various combinations to cater to player preferences including a fully cooperative module.

My Little Scythe is a competitive game inspired by the original award winning Scythe, in which each player controls 2 animals embarking upon an adventure in the Kingdom of Pomme. In an effort to be the first to earn  trophies from increasing their friendship and pies, powering up their actions using upgrade tiles, completing quests, learning magic spells, discovering precious resources, delivering gems and apples to Castle Everfree, and perhaps even engaging in a pie fight.

In an all new adventure for Dungeons & Dragons, famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm needs you to complete a simple quest. Thus begins a mad romp through the wards of Waterdeep in Dragon Heist as you uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures. A grand urban caper awaits you. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you’ve never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin!
