The game can be played between 3 to 4 players, or 5 to 6 if you own the extension pack. Players assume the role of settlers, each attempting to construct buildings while trying to gather resources by trading with the other players, in order to achieve the objective. There are several winning conditions; players can either acquire 10 victory points, having the largest army, or building the longest road. Like other typical miniature war games , the major chunk of gameplay consist of moving units across the map and deploying them to attack and take down the opposition . A turn consists of four different phases; Initiative, Movement, Combat and End Phase. Initiative Phase is where both the players roll two D6 dice and the player with the lower result would begin their turn first. Love Letter is primarily a strategy game that requires players to make careful deduction of their cards and also that of their opponent. Love Letter caters to 2 to 4 players, and should not take more than 10 minutes per round.
