Hey PI-Fans,

Now that the crazy rush of the festive season is starting to thin and the shipments are floating in from overseas, the Team at PI Games is rolling out a stack of board games we’ve unloaded off the boat – flooding our shelves is a heady mix of party games, social deduction games and kid friendly titles!

For those looking for fun on the lighter end of things, three new additions to the Oink Games family arrive in the form of the pseudo investment style Tropichaos, the push-your luck Wriggle Roulette and the set collection game Startups. Also having floated in is Trio, the English edition of popular Japanese memory draw game Nana. Unlock! also gets a new Short Adventure pack with Unlock! The Ocean’s Heart.

The fans of the Big Box need not fear. We’ve not forgotten you. In with the tide are the Wingspan Fan Box, containing the Additional Asian Avians, British Birds, Birds of Canada, Birds of Continental Europe, Birds of New Zealand and Birds of the USA expansions for the Wingspan board game. On top of this, we’ve also grabbed a brand new edition of Sagrada with a new printing for the evergreen stain-glass themed dice drafting game. Rounding out the release is Dorfromantik Light Luggage, a new portable sized release for the Spiel de Jahres 2023 winning cooperative city builder.

Tropichaos is a game about collecting and selling fruit in a world where the seasons are out of control, with winter being completely absent and the other seasons coming and going at random. Players take on the role of fruit sellers and try to get points by selling fruits at the right time during their peak season. The player who earns the most points wins.

During a turn, players spend actions to buy or sell fruit with the twist being that the fruit sell for different values during different seasons of the game and the progression of time is unfortunately somewhat unpredictable, leaving players with the difficult choice of when to liquidate their inventories.

In Wriggle Roulette, players take turns reaching into a bag filled with eel- and snake-shaped wooden pieces, trying to pull out as many eels as possible — but if the number of snakes grabbed by all players exceeds the limit, a “snake outbreak” occurs, and the player who grabbed the most pieces loses all of their eels.

You want to grab more than everyone else to score big, yet a snake outbreak would be devastating. Will you grab a bunch? Just a few? Or back out entirely? Read your opponents’ expressions and control your own greed in this incredibly silly push your luck game to make the right call or just sit back and laugh as the greediest of players gets punished.

Trio is a republishing of the Japanese game Nana – a card game in which players are looking for three of a kind cards.

Each turn, players must reveal two cards – either from the middle of the table, or by asking any player at the table for their lowest or highest card. If a player uncovers a pair, they reveal a third card using the same selection order attempting to get three of a kind and collect the trio. If the numbers don’t match – the cards get returned to their original positions, leaking more information to the table!

Draft dice and use the tools-of-the-trade in Sagrada to carefully construct your stained glass window masterpiece.

In more detail, each player builds a stained glass window by building up a grid of dice on their player board. Each board has some restrictions on which color or shade (value) of die can be placed there. Dice of the same shade or color may never be placed next to each other. Dice are drafted in player order, with the start player rotating each round, snaking back around after the last player drafts two dice. Scoring is variable per game based on achieving various patterns and varieties of placement…as well as bonus points for dark shades of a particular hidden goal color. The highest scoring window artisan wins!

From game to game, the points you earn can unlock new tiles and cards. These present you with new challenges and help you push your high score even further.
