Kingdoms

Designed by Reiner Knizia (Through the Desert, Colossal Arena), Kingdoms is a fast-paced, strategic board game in which players assume the roles of rival kings trying to increase their wealth by establishing castles across the land. By building castles in the richest regions, you stand to reap the most rewards. But build carefully! The most sought after regions may be infested with dragons, trolls, and other hazards that seek to rob your kingdom of its riches.

The 2011 edition includes detailed plastic castles, a streamlined rulebook, and the addition of a wizard tile – one that increases the rank of adjacent castles, multiplying their scores – previously available only at game conventions.

Wiz-War

In Wiz-War, wizards wage no-spells-barred magical duels deep in an underground labyrinth. This classic board game of magical mayhem pits players’ wizards against each other in a stupendous struggle for magical mastery. Win by stealing other wizards’ treasures and hauling them back to your base, or just score points by blasting the other wizards. The last wizard standing always wins.

Staying true to the spirit of the game that has entertained players for years, as well as inspiring an entire genre of games, the 2011 edition of Wiz-War caters to the imagination and the funny bone. Casting an enriched array of spells, your wizards race through an underground maze, avoiding fireballs, werewolves, and psychic storms. Subtle game enhancements by Kevin Wilson and Tom Jolly promote faster play and clarify card effects.

Dark Heresy: The Chaos Commandment

“There is no shame in knowledge, and no physical or mental ailment that cannot be treated with the right application of technology. The Priests of Mars have the right of it. Flesh is weak, but their myopic dogma blinds them to the true potential of augmetics. What I have created here doesn’t simply replace or repair flesh; it allows one to transcend humanity itself.” –Lord Viktor Drajkon

A conspiracy at the highest levels of the Calixian Church has finally come to fruition, and the sector rests on the edge of interstellar upheaval. Can you and your fellow Acolytes prevent this coming apocalypse?

The final chapter in The Apostasy Gambit trilogy (and also playable as a standalone adventure), this epic story pits a small band of Acolytes against an ancient and powerful threat.

Prepare to stand against the greatest threat the Calixis Sector has ever seen!

Warhammer 40k: 25th Anniversary Model

To celebrate the 25th Birthday of Warhammer 40,000, Games Workshop has released this special edition miniature based on the Space Marine Captain from the front cover of the Rogue Trader rulebook. Many wargamers will remember the iconic picture of the Crimson Fist Space Marines fighting for their lives against the Orks, with bullets and explosions dominating the backdrop of the piece. This miniature represents the Captain from that piece of artwork, clad in Mark VI armour and armed with a plasma pistol and power fist (complete with severed Ork head).

This pack contains one Warhammer 25 Year Anniversary Model. This model is a finely detailed resin cast miniature supplied as seven components (including a fully detailed base piece), and comes with one 25mm round base and one 60mm round base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly.

Supplies are extremely limited, so pre-order yours today! Stocks will be available on Saturday!

Warhammer Invasion LCG: City of Winter

Take their gold, burn their homes, kill their families and enslave their souls. Show them no mercy.” –Malekith, Witch King of Naggaroth

Now comes the time for hatred without end as the Dark Elves hatch malicious new schemes from behind the vast walls of Naggarond, the Tower of Cold.

City of Winter is the fifth Battle Pack in The Capital Cycle for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game. With three copies each of 20 unique cards, half of which support the Dark Elves and their evil schemes, City of Winter is an invaluable Battle Pack for players looking to wreak vengeance upon their foes. It’s also an excellent second step, after the purchase of the Warhammer: Invasion Core Set, for new players looking to harness the Dark Elves and their fury.

No one is safe from the Dark Elves’ attentions…

Contains cards 81-100 of The Capital Cycle. This is not a stand-alone deck. A Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game Core Set is required to play.

The Road to Canterbury

Greed, Pride, Gluttony, Wrath, Luxury, Idleness, and Envy – the infamous “Seven Deadly Sins”. For the faithful, they instill horror. For you, on the other hand, they present a wonderful business opportunity!

In The Road to Canterbury, you play a medieval pardoner who sells certificates delivering sinners from the eternal penalties brought on by these Seven Deadly Sins. You make your money by peddling these counterfeit pardons to Pilgrims traveling the road to Canterbury. Perhaps you can persuade the Knight that his pride must be forgiven? Surely the Friar’s greed will net you a few coins? The Miller’s wrath and the Monk’s gluttony are on full public display and demand pardoning! The Wife of Bath regales herself in luxury, the Man-of-Law languishes in idleness, and that Prioress has envy written all over her broad forehead. And the naughty stories these Pilgrims tell each other are so full of iniquity they would make a barkeep blush! Pardoning such wickedness should be easy money, right?

Not quite. For you to succeed as a pardoner, you’ll need to do more than just sell forged pardons for quick cash. To keep your services in demand, you will actually need to lead these Pilgrims into temptation yourself! Perhaps some phony relics might help? There is also one big catch. The Seven Deadly Sins live up to their name: each sin that a Pilgrim commits brings Death one step nearer, and a dead Pilgrim pays no pardoners!

So much to forgive, so little time. Will you be able to outwit your opponents by pardoning more of these Pilgrims’ sins before they die or finish their pilgrimage to Canterbury?

French cities with meeple, small kingdoms trying to be bigger ones, real estate agents, and Godslayers populate our favorite games this week!

Carcassonne Big Box 3

Carcassonne is not only the name of a Southern French city, but it is also a symbol for the fight of the people against the medieval church politics. And today its walls still stand as a symbol of security and the area is visited by many tourists every year seeking to remember the past.

It is also a clever tile-lying game.

The players develop the area around Carcassonne by placing tiles to form the map of the area – different for every game! They deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area and plan the best placement of their followers will determine who scores the most points and wins the game.

In the third Carcassonne Big Box you will find the basic game and five (count them five!) popular expansions for this fun and award-winning game: Abbey & Mayor, Bridges, Castles & Bazaars, Inns & Cathedrals, Traders & Builders, and Princess & Dragon.

Dominion Big Box

You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion!

In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner.

But wait! It must be something in the air; several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury. Your parents wouldn’t be proud, but your grandparents, on your mother’s side, would be delighted.

The Big Box contains the original Dominion, as well as the expansions Alchemy and Prosperity!

For Sale

For Sale is a quick, fun game about buying and selling real estate.

During the first phase of the game’s two distinct phases, players must bid for several buildings, trying to make the best deals for the property with the highest values.

Then, during the second phase, after all buildings have been bought, players must try to sell their buildings for the greatest profit possible by bidding for cash values with the values of their property.

Players must be shrewd with both their initial start-up capital during the first phase, and their properties during the second phase, and make the best deals possible in order to win the game.

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer

Welcome to Vigil, a world that has been protected for millennia by the Great Seal, a magical seal that has kept the realm free from divine influences. It was placed after an ancient war with a corrupt god, Samael the Fallen, when it was decided that none of the gods should be able to interfere anymore. But now, the Seal is failing, and nightmarish Monsters that had been forgotten are breaking through. As a hero of Vigil, your job is to take your small, ragtag band of Apprentices and Militia, and gather an army powerful enough to lead you to your destiny as the Godslayer, and in doing so, slay Samael once and for all.

Ascension is a fast-paced deckbuilding game that’s quick to learn, easy to setup, and packed with endless hours of replay value!
