The Quick Brown Fox

Hey PI-Fans,

We’re rolling into the Christmas period, so in addition to the usual new releases you’d expect on a Monday morning, we’re stocking deep in preparation for all your shopping needs.

For of you who  noticed absence from the store, no… they didn’t find my body washed up on a beach somewhere. I’m on vacation. Sort of, anyway. Also, I am not a Manei Domini infiltrator masquerading as the store manager on the internet.
Have a good week, folks.

– Kenneth, Games @ PI Manager/Precentor Dominus

Will your your quest end in death or glory? In Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game, 1 to 4 players guide some of the Old World’s most iconic heroes into the shadows to vanquish some of Warhammer’s most terrifying monsters in a quest for fabulous treasure in this modern re-implementation of the classic cooperative dungeon crawl.

Start at the beginning of A Song of Ice and Fire with Taking the Black, the first Chapter Pack in theWesteros cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game. As A Song of Ice and Fire begins, Westeros is at peace. But this deceptive calm will not long remain. Already, conflict between the Great Houses is on the horizon. You can take your place at the very beginning of the story with Taking the Black.

In Flashlights & Fireflies, get ready for a backyard dash-through-the-dark in this game of firefly-powered flashlight freeze tag! Catch fireflies to power your flashlight and then find the other players before they sneak back to home base. But keep an eye out for bats, raccoons, and other nighttime critters that are out to trip up your tracks!
Mrs. Plumpert’s prized pot pie has gone missing and it’s now a chicken chase to crack the case! Move around the board to gather clues and then use the special evidence scanner to rule out suspects. You’ll have to work together quickly because the guilty fox is high-tailing it towards the exit! Will you halt the hungry hooligan before it flies the coop… or will you be Outfoxed?

What are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut?

Hey PI-Fans,

I figured I should probably get the obligatory Ghostbusters references out of my system right and early.

So yeah.

Who Ya Gonna Call?

Are you troubled by strange noises in the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in basement or attic? Have you or your family actually seen a spook, spectre, or ghost? If the answer is yes, then don’t wait another minute. Just pick up the phone and call the professionals. Call the Ghostbusters! We’re ready to believe you.

Welcome to the height of technology and comfort, the Space Station Atlantis! Along with an obligatory alien invasion. Will your crew find space on the limited escape pods, board fighters and attempt to destroy the aliens or trust in their space suits and float for it? But with the alien Warriors, Spawns, and Queens patrolling the space around the station, only the luckiest will make it out of SURVIVE! SPACE ATTACK!

Dragons are big, terrifying creatures who eat people and burn stuff. In Wrath of Dragons, you are a dragon terrorizing the  Old World while laying waste to settlements, scorching fields, snatching livestock, hoarding gold, and capturing nobles (don’t think too hard into the last one). Will your destructive rampages earn you a place in the history books or will that title go to another dragon? Try out this clever inversion of worker placement (worker destruction?) games and terrorize your way into legend.

Encounters: Bravest Warriors is a quick push-your-luck dice game set in the world of the Pendleton Ward cartoon. Players can stop rolling any time they want, but there’s always a temptation to keep going for Heroic Points. If you fail, other players can leap at the opportunity to “assist” you (using their items to help you win in exchange for half the points, and you can’t refuse!) or just let you fail and ride on your coat-tails, picking up where you left off. Will you become the Bravest Warriors and battle your way through a myraid of encounters to Victory?

Abstract Contrast

Hey PI-Fans,

We though we might start this week with a few abstract titles.
Here’s a wave of light strategy to get the week going.
Crabz is an aggressive little strategy game about stacks of crabs. With the tide coming in, crabs scuttle to safety, inadvertently piling on top of each other in a bid to escape the waves. With large crabs happily plonking themselves on top of smaller ones, players work to immobilize opponents by pinning their crabs underneath crabs of their colour in an attempt to have the last available free crabs when the tide comes in.
Despite it’s obviously punny name, Battle Sheep is a light and fast playing territory control game. In Battle Sheep, players control flocks of sheep trying to sieze the biggest chunk of a pasture for themselves. Each flock consists of a stack of sheep, which slowly splits into smaller stacks as they control ground, becoming less and less flexible the fewer sheep there remain in the pile, making it a balancing act between grabbing ground early or keeping your options open to cut off other players later on.
A unique take on the card-draft mechanic, Sushi Draft has players battling over plates of sushi as they strive to collect the largest sets in a winner take all rush to secure points. With flexible scoring that rewards both specialization in individual sushi types as well as rewarding the biggest spread of food consumed and nasty tiebreaker mechanics (neither player in a tie scores), players must make an effort to balance their consumption to come out ahead of the competition in this light 15 minute card game.

It’s hard to describe Okiya as anything besides addictive. While easily dismissed as yet another line building type game, Okiya is unique in the ability of players to force an opponent to choose their next placement based on the Japanese themed illustrations on the tile they previously chose. Players must therefore not only plan their own moves, but also take into consideration the options opened up to their opponents in this light and fast two-player game.

Back In The Loop

Hey PI-Fans,

Apologies, folks. Duty called and I ended up spending the past couple of weeks in holed up somewhere near Lim Chu Kang.

But enough about me.  You’re here for the games. We’ve got our usual spread of new stuff, and all those Splendor, Ticket to Ride and Dixit restocks you’ve been waiting for.

Business as usual, folks!

Alternatively described as a gripping co-operative game of supernatural deduction and a “game of ghosts, murder and hilarious incompetence“, in Mysterium, players are alternately Mediums attempting to grapple with cryptic clues from a haunting as they attempt to solve a murder, or a Ghost who is increasingly frustrated by the inability of the Mediums to follow his instructions. Will the murder be solved before the harried Ghost player has an aneurysm and collapses?

In Shakespeare, players are theater managers who must recruit actors, craftsmen, jewelers and others in order to assemble everything needed for the play’s performance at week’s end. Each day players recruit one new character and take actions with the characters they have. After the actions, they must check the ambience level in their theater, hoping to gain gaining points and rehearsal time.  Players must juggle the balance between earning revenue to pay their actors and at the same time ensure the artistry of their plays to maintain their credibility.

The Audience has spoken – in the Room 25 Season 2 expansion for the claustrophobic Room 25 survival game, new arrivals have been tossed into the labyrinthine survival game – and the existing cast has gotten all new power boosts. Of course, the complex hasn’t stayed the same either, and the players will have to face more hazards and traps in their bid for survival.

Data and Dracula

Fury of Dracula (3rd Edition) and Android Netrunner: Data and Destiny Release Today, 27/10/15

Morning PI-Fans,

It’s release day and we’ve got the goods, so it’s time to make the Run. Tune your decks with the bleeding edge of technology with the new Data and Destiny Expansion, or embrace the return of a modern classic with the all new edition of Fury of Dracula.

Stalk the ageless count across Europe in your struggle to end his deathless rampage in this all new edition of the two to five player game of misdirection. Mislead your hunters and lose their pursuit as Dracula, or find the count and stake him during the day when he’s helpless as a Hunter and Decide once and for all whether Europe will fall under the undead Count’s terrible influence.

A global security agent smashes effortly smashes through firewalls…
A mad bioroid struggles to contain its obsession with running…
An amorphous entity slowly consumes the net…

It’s time to face destiny.

This Was A Triumph…

Hi PI-Fans,

The week isn’t done folks. Here’s another wave of releases, including many new sought-after releases. Lets get down to it.

The latest addition  to the Smash Up  “shufflebuilding” game: Take two twenty-card decks and shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Smash Up Munchkin brings Clerics, Halflings, Orcs, Warriors, Elves, Thieves, Dwarves and Mages to your Munchkin game, and bring the wacky antics of Steve Jackson’s Munchkin card game to your Smash Up table.

The latest titles in Seiji Kanai’s smash hit Lost Legacy series, Lost Legacy: Vorpal Sword & Whitegold Spire and Lost Legacy: Third Chronicle – Sacred Grail & Staff of Dragons continue the  ongoing search for ruined components of the alien starship. Take charge of all new casts of characters and join the quest to find the Lost Legacies as you race to hold your discoveries against the prying eyes of the other players.

Coup Rebellion G54 uses the same lightning fast rules found in Coup – claim, counter, challenge and bluff – and then adds an exciting strategic layer through character selection.  Before each game starts, five character roles are chosen randomly from 25 different cards. Each of the five characters has a unique ability – the combination of abilities and interplay between them makes each game unique.  Will your bluffing, deduction, negotiation and luck be enough to carry you through the rebellion? Or will your influence crumble in the face of your foes?
In Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game, the cake is no lie. Your team of test subjects has entered the Lab and is ready to perform all sorts of important, dignified, and dangerous testing procedures… all in the pursuit of cake! Do you risk gathering moist slices of industrial-grade cake early for a quick win? Or do you bide your time and wait until you can protect it better? It’s a fun and funny fast-paced fight to the finish — and by finish, we mean your team probably died.

The battle between the Informants and the Resistance has led to one final battle. In One Night Revolution, the resistance has prepared to strike, yet the Informants pose an ever looming threat within their tanks. Every player starts with a specialist role and an ID (either Government Informant or Rebel Fighter). Using their Specialist actions to gather information, switch roles, and share info, the resistance has to suss out the spies before the day is over, or all is lost.

Dice – Gamer Bling

Hey PI-Fans,

Since we started the Ghastly Giveaway, we’ve had inquiries about how else they can obtain Games @ PI Voucher dice. Apparently, there’s demand for them as more than swag.

And since you asked…

We’ve decided to put them up for sale.

From now until 31st October, we’ll be selling little gift baggies containing 5 different colored $6 dice vouchers at $30 each .*

As an added bonus, any dice bag purchase nets you two Ghastly Giveaway tickets for the upcoming draw.

So, whether you want them as a gift  (or just to add some  unique dice to your collection), well… nothing like the present.

– Kenneth, Games @ PI Manager.

* For obvious reasons, though, we unfortunately can’t let you  buy dice with dice.

A Ghastly Giveaway

TAKE PART IN OUR GHASTLY GIVEAWAY THIS HALLOWEEN AND WIN SOME AWESOME GAMING SWAG.

Hey PI-Fans,

What’s a Halloween without the Robots, Zombies, Pirates and more? We’re going to be kicking this off by giving away, absolutely free, a copy of the Zombie Survival Game City of Horror to a lucky winner of the drawing on November 1st.

From 20th October until 31st October, every $60 spent in a single receipt entitles you to one of our new $6 Voucher dice as well as an lucky draw ticket for the GHASTLY GIVEAWAY.*

————————————————————-

And we’re not stopping there. For every 50 lucky draw tickets we collect, we’re going to be adding another prize to the drawing pool. Here’s what you can look forward to as we escalate towards Armageddon.

50 Entries: RUN AWAY

You may either gain or spend dice in a purchase, not both. Vouchers discounts may not be applied during purchases which accrue additional dice/lucky draw tickets.

Tell Me A Story

Hey PI-Fans,

Monday restocks are in, and we’ve got plenty to keep your games going this week. Lets begin shall we?

As seen in Wil Wheaton’s Titansgrave RPG, Green Ronin’s Adventure Game Engine or AGE system is a robust, simple RPG system perfect for both new players and jaded veterans alike. Jump into the AGE with both the Fantasy AGE Core Book and the Titansgrave: The Ashes of Valkana Setting Book, or just head back to Thedas to revisit the game that launched it all with the all new Dragon Age Core Rulebook.
You’ve fought Aliens aboard the Nostromo, now face down the Predators out to kill you in Legendary Encounters: A Predator Deck Building Game. Using the elegant Legendary Encounters deck building mechanics, fight a hopeless struggle to bring your strike team back alive, or harvest grim trophies as a Predator on the prowl. And just to kick it up a notch,  this is fully compatible with the Alien set. AVP? Yes please.
In Empire Engine, players take on the role of a mighty empire, powered by rotating gears. During the game, players simultaneously rotate their dials to choose their actions allowing them to collect resources, attack their enemies and defend, salvage, export, or collect resources. The player who scores the most points for the goods, soldiers and inventions in their score pile at the end of the game is the winner in this 30 minute game of interstate conflict.
In Alchemists, two to four budding alchemists compete to discover the secrets of their mystical art. Players gain knowledge by mixing ingredients and testing the results. Players can also earn money by selling potions of questionable quality to adventurers, but money is just a means to an end. The alchemists don’t want riches, after all. They want respect, and respect usually comes from publishing theories. What arcane secrets do these strange ingredients hide? Now it is time to find out.

I Regret Many Things Right Now

These are some of them.

Hey PI-Fans,

For fans of rather questionable subject matters, we’ve got a small shipment of Exploding Kittens (in both Original and NSFW versions) and Never Have I Ever.

We’re really not exactly sure how long these will last folks, so we’re tossing them on the shelf and hoping for the best.

Usual rules of acquisition apply. In the interest of fairness, as quantities are limited, we will only able to hold reserved items for a single day. At the end of the day, any unclaimed sets will be returned to the shelf.

– Kenneth, Games @ PI Manager
