Pungeons and Dragons

Hey PI-Fans,

Starting a week with a new game or two always sounds like a plan. Well… it’s what we believe anyway.

On the board game front, things are peachy. If you’re going to scroll down to the new stuff, there’s plenty to see, but don’t forget about restocks of Unstable Unicorns, Hive, Fallout and Azul as well as classics like Catan, Saboteur,  Citadels and Pandemic.

Of course, you’re probably wondering about the new stuff anyway. So… have at thee!

I don’t think we’re in Potions any more… This is magic class like you’ve never seen it before. Pick up your Bubble Wand and hope you can find the Great Haul, or at least a Friendly Big Kid to help you out. Or maybe grab the Fire Drill or the Manual of Transmission, because here come the Ash Kicker, Huff & Puff, and the dreaded Moldy Mort! Toss Munchkin Spell Skool into your existing Munchkin set or play it as a standalone, because you don’t need an excuse for more Munchkin.

Discover the ancient art form of Tea Dragon care taking within this enchanting world of friendship and fantasy. Create a bond between yourself and your Tea Dragon that grows as you progress through the seasons creating memories to share forever. Based on the graphic novel The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill, The Tea Dragon Society is a unique deck building experience where players cultivate tea and their dragon against the quirks that their dragons develop.

Century: Spice Road is the first in a series of games that explores the history of each century with spice-trading as the theme for the first installment. In Century: Spice Road, players are caravan leaders who travel the famed silk road to deliver spices to the far reaches of the continent for fame and glory.

And in Century: Eastern Wonders, a standalone sequel to Century Spice Road, the lucrative spice trade compelled the prosperous nations of the world to explore alternate routes to the sources of these precious goods. These nations took to the seas to seek out exotic lands. This led to the discovery of the famed Spice Islands where the most valuable spices of the world were found. This discovery also led to further exploration,

In Dragon’s Hoard, each player plays a dragon hunting for treasure. Collect sheep from the farmer’s fields and use them to buy treasures, but watch out! Other players will send angry mobs and wizards your way to stop you. Defend yourself and battle your way to riches.

Feeling Zen

Hey PI-Fans,

Sometimes, you get that feeling that you need to chill, a realization that you’ve gotta take time to slow down and take in the scenery.

Then gloat that your scenery is better than theirs.

Which is the exact opposite of what you were attempting to achieve and I appear to have forgotten the point of this post.

Relax, chill… something something… profit. Or something.

I’m no longer sure. What were we talking about again.

Seikatsu“, which means “life” in Japanese is a game where players take on the role of gardeners creating a garden together. To this end, they take turns at picking garden tiles and placing them in the garden, the object being to attract flocks of birds and set up rows of flowers. Players score for groups of birds as they place them, but they score for rows of flowers only at the end of the game and only for the rows of flowers that are visible from their pagoda at the game end.

In the twisted jungles of Paradiso, humanity fights for its survival. In the star-swept skies above, the collected might of humanity’s armadas maintain a life-or-death blockade to cut off an endless horde of alien reinforcements. And if any of humanity’s fractious forces falter, then all may be lost… But beyond the terrifying holding action, the intrigues and adventures of the human sphere spin on. Now you can expand your adventures, diving deep into the amazing, never-before-seen depths of the Infinity universe with the Infinity Role Playing Game.

You are a Senshi, a warrior-monk studying diligently at the temple under the tutelage of the current master. You and your fellow students train vigorously every day to improve your mind and body, but your master is ailing, and only one senshi will become the next master. Carefully manipulate stacks of tiles that represent your four attributes: strength, agility, wisdom, and honor.  Whoever has the tallest scoring pile of any of the four attributes at the end of the game wins; however, first the player with the shortest scoring pile is eliminated. Watch your opponent’s moves closely and exploit their weaknesses to achieve the great honor of becoming the temple’s next master!

The Stars Are Wrong

Hey PI-Fans,

It’s a muggy Monday morning and we’re all heading back to work. Still… it’s going to be a short week thanks to the coming National Day Holiday.

And that’s as good an excuse as any to break out a game or two with some friends, no? Doesn’t matter whether it’s cracking open a board game, flipping some cards, rolling some dice or pushing some miniatures.

It’s all in good fun.

Besides. It’s a new week, and you’ve known us long enough to know what we’re going to be making noise about.

The cops have you surrounded! As your mafia boss escapes into his helicopter, he drops his Wallet, which contains ID cards and wads of currency from around the world. Gameplay consists of a variable number of rounds in which players attempt to locate a plausible ID card and either acquire bribe money or ditch extra currency. Holding multiple IDs and several types of currency will get you locked up for sure. Feel free to reach into the Wallet … you never know what you’ll find.

Two new mini expansion packs for 7 Wonders arrive. The first expansion pack, the 7 Wonders: Leaders Anniversary Pack  is an expansion to 7 Wonders: Cities and includes fifteen new leaders to include in games of 7 Wonders including Gorgo, Cornelia, Enheduanna, Roxana, and more. 7 Wonders: Cities Anniversary Pack on the other hand is an expansion to the 7 Wonders: Cities expansion, and includes fifteen new city cards including a memorial, customs, counterfeiter’s office, smuggler’s cache.

An oasis of interstellar magic lies beyond the stratosphere: countless stars, burning comets, planets, ivory moons, nebulae, and perhaps even a beastly black hole or two. It’s all up there for the finding. At the Royal Hinterland Observatory, endless elaborate sky formations are within reach of discovery — but you have to lay claim before your fellow astronomers nab the glory for themselves. StarFall is a clever game of wits, bidding, and quick thinking in which the aim is to obtain the most impressive portfolio of cosmic curiosities.
